Waggoner Succumbs In Local Sanitarium. Gasoline Stove at Her Home Exploded, Severely Burning Her. Mrs. J.R. Waggoner, aged 34 years, died in the local sanitarium Tuesday morning at 1:40 o'clock, from burns sustained in an explosion occurring at her home, three miles west of Marietta, Okla.. A gasoline stove exploded about 10 o'clock Monday morning, causing the burns which resulted in her death. She was rushed here for treatment, but her injuries were of such a serious nature that she was unable to survive. Mrs. Waggoner was standing in front of the stove with a can of gasoline in her hand, preparatory to regulating the burners, when the stove suddenly burst into flames, igniting the woman's clothing. She fell on the floor in the presence of three of her children. Paul, her 13 year old son, who was outside of the house at the time of the accident, ripped a screen off of a door to reach his mother, and after removing her burned clothing, placed her in the family automobile and rushed her to Marietta, where she was placed on a train and brought here. Mr. Waggoner was engaged in threshing grain at the time, and was not home. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hudspeth of Valley View, and was principally reared there. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church in Valley View, and interment was made in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of S.W. Gibson of this city. Mrs. Waggoner is survived by her husband, a prominent Love county farmer, and five small children. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: This article is about my grand mother, Ninnie Rae Hudspeth, married to Joseph Ransom (Rance) Waggoner from Cooke Co., TX.
