Prichard Services for William B. (Bill) Prichard were held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Marietta Church of Christ with Floyd Johnson, minister of the Central Church of Christ in Ardmore, officiating. Born June 19, 1911 in Marietta, Prichard died May 18 in the Love County Health Center. He was the son of the late W. A. (Eck) and Arrena Prichard, a pioneer Love County family, and graduated from Marietta High School in 1931. Well-known for his athletic abilities as a football player and as a catcher on the baseball team, through the years, he never lost his love of athletics and was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. He was married to the former Ruth Randolph and spent most of his life in Love County with the exception of 10 years in Oklahoma City. While in Oklahoma City, he worked for the State of Oklahoma and at Tinker Air Force Base. Upon his return to Marietta he worked with his father at Prichard’s Hardware, and then at Cochran’s Hardware and Furniture for 13 years. He retired from Cochran’s due to his health and then took the appointment as City Judge for the City of Marietta, a post he held until his death. Aside from his work, he was interested in civic duties and in the betterment of Marietta and Love County. He served on the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years and during that time served a term as Fire Chief. He was also a past president of the Marietta Lions Club and the Love County Chamber of Commerce. He served as a member of the Board of Education and was also president of that board. He was an active member of the Marietta Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Prichard of the home in Marietta; one son, Ron Prichard of Piedmont, one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Cowan of Edmond; two brothers, Virgil Prichard of Tucson, Arizona and Herman Prichard of Phoenix, Arizona; and three grandchildren, Dana Prichard, Lance Roberts, and Brantley Cowan. Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery was under the direction of the Goodrich- Anderson Funeral Home. Serving as casket bearers were Bill McGehee, Rudolph McGehee, Dick Cochran, Bill Dvorak, Otto Walker, and Norman Flanagan. Honorary bearers were Henry VanSant, Johnie Simmons, Rayford Renick, Oscar Alagood, A. F. Hicks, Woodrow Bearden, Travis Scott, Jack McGehee, and Spence McGee. Also serving were Employees of the City of Marietta, the Love County Sheriffs Office, the Marietta Police Department, and the local detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
