Clifton Graveside services for Woodrow W. Clifton, 89, of Marietta, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, at Greenville Cemetery, with Rev. Patti McCall officiating. Mr. Clifton was born October 3, 1912, at Greenville, the son of Walter S. and Rose Lee McIver Clifton. He died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at his home. A 1930 graduate of Greenville High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, June 3, 1932 and served in both the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets during World War II, plus three tours in Korea. He was discharged from the Navy, August 31, 1962, in Mayport, Florida, after 30 years of continuous service. He lived in Florida until 1972, then moved to Marietta. Survivors include one sister, Rosalie Lynn of San Francisco, California; niece, Susie Powell of Norman; nephew, Sammy Clifton of Many, Louisiana; great-nephew, Jason Clifton of Oklahoma City; special friend, Julia Hickman of Ardmore and many others. Mr. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Sam Clifton. Services were under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home, Ardmore.
