In 1870 this family lived at Greenfield, Dade County, MO. His father was a carpenter. A sister, Thersia Ellen DAVIS was born at Starfield, Clinton County, MO June 1871. And, a brother in July 1876, named Samuel Thomas DAVIS, also born in MO. As of 1879, the family resided at Windsor Township, Cowley Co., KS. Per the 1880 Silver Creek Township, Cowley County, KS Census, the DAVIS family resided there. Sarah’s parents, David C. & Elizabeth MCHENRY lived with them. William Monroe DAVIS left Kansas and homesteaded in Woods County, OK now Major County) in 1893. He filed on Sept 21, 1893, (#320) on Sect. 23, Twp 20, Range 12, 160 acres. He canceled by relinquishment, at Alva, OK on Feb 9, 1895. William married a girl, who had also lived with her family at Cowley County, KS. She was Ida Ellen (HARROD), the daughter of Moses and Mary Jane (DUVALL) HARROD. The HARROD family lived at Guthrie, Logan County, OK, where William and Ida married on May 23, 1896. William and Ida’s son, Harry Monroe DAVIS was born at Guthrie on January 4th, 1897. Harry joined a sibling, Lula Blanche, Ida’s daughter, who was born in KS April 24, 1887. By 1910, William and Ida DAVIS resided at Ames, Cimarron Twp, Major County, OK. There, William was a Harness Maker, owning his own shop. William was 41, Ida 40 and son, Harry was 13 years old. William, Ida and Harry had moved to Enid, Garfield County, OK by 1917. There, William was a shoe maker and owned his own business for many years. Many Davis relatives also lived at Enid during that time. William and Ida DAVIS returned to Burden, Cowley County, KS about 1945. Ida died on Sept 29, 1952 and William, on Aug 8, 1955. Burials were at the Burden Cemetery.
