McHendry Funeral services for Ira L. McHendry age 73 of Fairmont, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 21, 1999 in the Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont. Rev. Timothy Dorsch will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of Fairmont under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Ira was born July 8, 1926 in Hennessey to Estelle and Ollie Mae (Vance) McHendry and passed away early Sunday morning December 19, 1999 in the Greenbrier Nursing Facility. he attended Ringwood and Hayward schools. on August 23, 1946, Ira married Marsha Lee Stotts at the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Enid. he served in Europe with the 30th Infantry Division during World War II and with the 45th Division during Korea. Ira retired from the Army National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 1968. Ira managed General Mills Grain of Fairmont for 15 years. he served as Garfield County Commissioner of District #1 for 12 years and managed Johnston’s Grain Company of Covington until his retirement in 1995. Ira was a life time member of the American legion and V.F.W. and a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont. he is survived by his wife Marsha of the home, three sons, Rockie and wife Dixie of San Antonio, Texas, Monte and mark both of Enid, one daughter Mara Jo and husband Darryl Kimmell of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Ira was the oldest of five brothers and five sisters, Otis of Shirley, New York, Curtis of Olympia, Washington, Ellis of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Donnie of Edmond, Joe of Coweta, Leota Burrows of Stillwater, Lavena McDermott of Del City, and Bonnie Luginbill of Kellyville, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ira was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Stella, and two sisters, Leona and Joyce Marie. Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont.
