McHendry, 77, who died early Monday in a local hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Henninger-Allen funeral chapel. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Dr. Ben Sturdivant, pastor of the First Methodist church of Enid, will officiate. Charles Dillon, John Rowe, Leonard Maphet, John W. Carey, William F. Burns and E.D. Beardslee, Sr., will be the pallbearers. A native to Burden, Kan., McHendry came to Oklahoma as a small boy, living first in Guthrie, moving to Enid in 1908. As a young man, McHendry traveled for Armour and Company, after which he opened an appliance store. Following this, he worked for the Schuler Fruit Company until ill health forced his retirement ten years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church, the United Commercial Travelers and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his widow of the home, 1223 West Randolph, two daughters; Agnes McHendry, Mrs. Oletha Greeley, both of Denver, Colo; one granddaughter, Mrs. Edward Self, Amkor, Turkey; two great0grandchildren, Jill and David Self.
