The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Obituary: Martha Elizabeth McHendry: Ames, Major County, OK Ames Review, January 29, 1904: After a two-year’s illness with diabetes, Martha Elizabeth McHendry passed away Jan. 23, 1904 at 12:30 o’clock a.m., aged 51 years and 14 days. Martha Elizabeth (Bailey) was born in Clinton Co., MO Jan. 9, 1853. She was married to Samuel McHendry in 1871, moved to Cowley Co., KS in 1875, to Stafford Co., in 1884, and from there to Oklahoma in 1899. Four children, three sons all of whom are living and one daughter who died in infancy were born to them. The funeral services were held in the Christian Church January 25, conducted by Rev. Duff of Hennessey, after which she was laid to rest in the Ames Cemetery. She has been a faithful member of the Christian Church ever since she was fifteen years old. She leaves a husband, three sons and a host of warm friends to mourn their loss.
