Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for non-commercial purposes, MUST obtain the written consent of the contributor, OR the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ****************************************************************** ****************************************************************** Laura Ellen Valentine, daughter of William and Chrystina Valentine, was born December 6, 1869, at Montarey, Indiana, and departed this life on Nov. 17, 1941 at the home of her daughter, near Orienta, Okla., at the age of seventy-one years, eleven months, and eleven days. She moved with her parents from the vicinity of her birth to Hoopston, Illinois, from there to West Plains, Missouri, where she made her home for several years. It was here while as a young girl that she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and united with the Methodist Church. Moved from there to Winfield, Kansas, then in 1890 to Kingfisher, Okla. In 1898 she came to her brother's near Waynoka and made her home until her marriage to Archibald Nairn, Nov 6, 1901. They then moved to their homestead near Sherman, Okla. To this union three children were born, one daughter, Mrs. Ira Marlatt, two sons, James Earl and Hursel Lee. Aside from these children she leaves to cherish her memory one daughter-in-law one son-in- law, five granchildren, one brother, James Valentine of Waynoka and a host of other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her in the final call, Feb 14, 1924. She was a very devoted mother to her home and family. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Methodist church at Cheyenne Valley. They were conducted by Rev. Earl Slater. The body was laid to rest in the Liberty Cemetery.
