The cemetery is located on the top of a hill on the right side of the road. If you reach the paved road, come back a few feet. The cemetery is located in a cow pasture. A sign posted on the the fence reads: Aylesworth Cemetery Est. in 1834 in Memory of John Simmons in 1900. Please note that this is NOT all of the burials at Aylesworth it is just a few I wrote down while visiting the cemetery: Winnie May Amos 1904-1954 Laura, wife of J.C. Long Died Jan 29, 1907 Dora F. Long 1889 - 19-- (double headstone with John C. Long) John C. Long 1876-1938 Teddy Harper 1904-1918 Luther and Bertha Hugkins Thomas Bull 1869-1916 Norma Francis Grubbs Born May 25, 1938 Florence, wife of Bud Wheeler 1869-1925 There were several Halkins, Wheeler and Simmons headstones, which I didn't write down dates or names off of the headstones! Additional Notes about possible burials: --------------------------------------------------------------- My grandmother was born in Aylesworth and she married my grandfather in Kinlock. I understood from Grandma that her grandparents, Anthony and Christine Halkins died and were buried in Aylesworth. I asked grandma a number of years ago if they had been 'relocated' before the lake was 'brought' in and she thinks that they may have been. Carl Burgett zoomie2k@hotmail.com
