ALSUP IS DEAD AT 79; RITES SUNDAY 1/25/1968 Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Alsup, 79, mother of Lee Alsup of Madill, were held here at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Alsup was born at Cumberland, I.T., September 5, 1888, and was reared in the county. She was married to Richard Alsup in Tishomingo in 1903. They lived in Madill for many years. After her's husband's death in 1937, she continued to make her home here untill about 15 years ago, when she moved to Shawnee. A member of the Methodist church for many years, she had been in ill health for the past 15 years, and seriouly ill for the past five years. She died Friday morning at Shawnee. The Rev. Burrel McNaught officiated at the funeral services, held at the Watts Memorial Chapel. Music was arranged by Mrs. Norvell Beard, and Mrs. Leota Qualls was organist. Burial was in the Madill-Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were Woody Jackson, Carl Weldon, Top Hartin, Bill Weldon, Jim Honea, Max Archerd, A.V. Swan and Dick Perryman. Survivors include three sons, Mr. Alsup of Madill, Edd Alsup of Salt Lake City, Utah, Harold Alsup of Odessa, Tex., and three daughters, Mrs. Louise Stamps, Tishomingo, Mrs. Geneva Smith, Shawnee, and Mrs. Noweta DeVillier, Eunice, La. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also included are three brothers, Ed Duncan of Cumberland, Cecil Duncan of Cumberland, Buck Duncan of Norman, and two sisters, Mrs. E.L. Hartin of Madill and Mrs. Bruce Rice of Little City..
