Frank Pennington officiated and music was arranged by Callie Rushing, Tommy Taylor, and the Dwight Birdsong Band. He died Aug. 30 at an Ardmore hospital at the age of 97. He was born May 19, 1904, at McMillan, Indian Terrritory, to the late James Andrew Brown and Annie Melvinie Collins. He was raised and lived in Love County until 1924 when he moved and lived in Marshall and Johnston counties. He married Annie Laura Goff on Nov., 16, 1929 at Kingston. He and his wife moved to Madill in 1955 where they lived the rest of their lives. She preceded him in death on July 21, 1986. Aus worked as a farmer and a truck driver, and as a pipeliner for a number of years, as well as for the City of Madill, and Marshall County, District # 2. He retired around the age of 85. Aus mowed yards for the elderly and widowed and was a self taught renowned fiddler. He won many trophies and awards throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. He loved to fish, deer hunt and play music for the local nursing homes and senior citizens centers. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Vickie Brown, of Madill, Eddie and Debbie Brown, of Atoka; his daughters and sons-in-law, Neva Lafon and Emit Clark, of Oakland, Mona Jo and Jack Cumbie, of Russett, Glynda Jane and Ferrell Herndon, of Durant, Susan Kaye and Jackie Pilgrim, of Ardmore, and Nancy Lou and Doug Kirk, of Plainview; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Gregory, of Pampa, TX; his brother, Vernon Brown of Spring Lake, Mich; his sister-in-law Aline Brown, of Ardmore; several Goff family in-laws, special caregivers, Jaynie Gores, Lila Carter, and Kathleen Grider, and many other relatives and many, many dear and loved friends. Aus was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Bobby Dale Clark, and a great-granddaughter, Emerald Vega. Casket bearers were Randy Cumbie, Jackie Don Cumbie, Todd Brown, Grant Brown, Dennis Cumbie, Mitchell Pilgrim, Teeleih Bond, and Jeremy Cumbie. Honorary casket bearers were Dr. Greg Martens, Donald Joe Adams, Otis Wilson, Ed Benton, Dwight Birdsong, John Grider, Bryant Watts, Dr. John Sills, John H. Jones, Milford Clement, Marcello Cavallo, Thomas Pittman and Ivan Loyd. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Memorials can be made to the Dickson Senior Citizen Center, Rt. 1, Ardmore, OK., 73401 NOTE: Authur was known to family and friends as "Aus".
