Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Crown of Texas Hospice, and the Rev. Marty Hamrick of the church officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Beck was born in Kingston, Okla., Feb. 17, 1923. She was married to James William Beck for 22 years. She had been a model for Neiman Marcus in Dallas and owned The Vogue Beauty Salon in Sherman for many years. She and her husband were avid square dancers and members of several square dance clubs in Sherman. They moved to Amarillo in September 1964 from Sherman. She taught at Draughons Business College for 10 years. She was a certified apartment manager and a member of National Apartment Managers Association. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was awarded Speaker of the Year several times with Toastmasters and Toastmistress Association in which she served for 30 years. She was a published writer. She was a resident of Independence Village for 15 years. She was a member of Vaughn-Selby class at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Roe, Scott Roe, Brandon Fletcher and Mitchell Flanders. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammie Roe. Survivors include a son, Ronald D. Beck and wife, Carol, of Comanche; three daughters, Marta Beck Cole of San Angelo, Megon Beck Fletcher of Carrollton and Jama Flanders Sommers of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Charles A. Sommers of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Kevin Roe and wife, Brenda, of San Angelo, Scott Roe and Jamie Fletcher, both of Dallas, Brandon Fletcher and wife, Leslie, of Chicago and Mitchell Flanders of Amarillo; and three great-grandchildren, Leslie Roe, Ryan Roe and Kimberly Roe, all of San Angelo. The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 2404 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
