The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Source: Madill Record or Durant Daily - Feb. 14, 1946 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Polio Claims Life of Allen Kay French Madill Record or Durant Daily Feb. 14, 1946 Allen Kay, 8 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Webb French of Madill, died in Parkland hospital in Dallas early today of infantile paralysis after an illness of more than four months. The child had been kept in an iron lung at the hospital, since she became ill October 1,last year where her aliment was diagnosed as poliomyelitis. At the same time her younger sister, Freda, and her cousin, Jimmie Small, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Small of Oklahoma Cit, were diagnosed as suffering from polio, but the latter two children have practically recovered. Funeral services for Allen Kay will be held at the Methodist Church in Madill Friday afternoon at 2:30. She was born in Durant. The family moved from here to Stillwater where Mr. French attended Oklahoma A. and M. College, later moved to Madill where Mr. French operates a ranch south of the city. Mrs. French was formerly Miss Mary Byrd Taliaferro of Madill. Mr. French was born and reared in Durant.
