Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. ---------------------------------------------------- MADILL RECORD March 29, 1962 Charges Filed In Lynn Death A 48 year old former Madill resident is being held in Oklahoma City, jailed and booked on a complaint of murder in the death of his cousin, Buster C. Lynn, Madill. Charged was John Henry Lynn, 3606 Venice Boulevard, Oklahoma City. He was to be arraigned before an Oklahoma City Justice of the Peace in the case. No charges had been placed on the District Court records by Wednesday noon. Oklahoma City Police Officers arrested Lynn after his cousin, Buster Lynn was found dead Saturday in his sister's home at 2739 West Eubanks. He had been apparently beaten to death. The suspect reportedly admitted striking the victim but would not admit beating him severely. The body was found by another cousin of the victim, Mrs. Vera Bourland. It was she that called Police after finding him dead Saturday. Buster Lynn had been employed by the Oklahoma Highway Department. He had made his home at the Jackson rooms on South Second Avenue in Madill until March 12, he reportedly went to Oklahoma City last Friday with his cousin. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Watts Memorial Chapel, Bro. Don Bunnell officiated in the services. Singing was arranged by Lucille Murray and burial, under the direction of Watts, was in the Woodberry-Forrest Cemetery. Buster Lynn was born January 16, 1909 near Madill. He had attended School in Madill and was graduated from Madill High School. He attended Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant for two years. Later, he worked for the State. Lynn is survived by three sisters; Mrs. Durla Twomey, Richardson, Texas, Mrs. Marjorie Shelly, Richardson, Tex., and Mrs. Winifred Cassidy, Dallas, Tex., and one brother, Willie A. Lynn, Andrews, Texas. Pallbearers included J.B. Lynn, Ada, W.A. Lynn, Garland, Texas and Dick Johnson, R.D. Sartin, Travis Jackson, Bill Hansford and Ira Huff.
