Files may be printed or copied for personal use only. ---------------------------------------------------- MADILL RECORD APRIL 1, 1954 (Heart attack is fatal to Walter Huff last Friday) Walter Huff, 57, died suddenly last Friday afternoon while fishing with friends on Little Glasses Creek area of Lake Texoma. He had been afflicted with a serious heart ailment for nine years before suffering the fatal attack. He had spent considerable time on the lake since he had been ill. Mrs. Bill Stout, who was fishing nearby, said he walked over to where she had caught a fish and remarked that he had to take a heart pill and in a few moments he was gone. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Weaver were also fishing nearby, as was Bill McWha, who called an ambulance to the scene. Mrs. Weaver said Monday that Mr. Huff was "Laughing and Happy" just a few minutes before he was stricken. Mr. Huff was born in Violet, Indian Territory, September 19, 1896, and moved to this County when he was only a year old. He was married to Miss Gladys Huff January 1, 1925. He was a Veteran of World War I and was active in the American Legion here until his health failed. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for 20 years. Funeral services were held at the Madill Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, with Roy Howell and John W. Pigg, former Ministers of the Church and William Hall present Minister, conducting the services. Burial was in Woodberry-Forest Cemetery with the American Legion in charge of Graveside rites. Pallbearers were Lee McKinney, C.O. Newman, Cyril Petty, Oldhan Woods, Dud Tellerson, David Ward, Penn Scott and Burton Livengood. Mr. Huff is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Margie Nell Edwards, Graham, Tex. Two grandsons, his mother, Mrs Dessie Huff and a brother, Ira Huff both of Madill
