Lynn was father of a large family) (Came here in 1895-was a Bible Reader.) John H. Lynn, 75, thirty-two years a resident of Marshall County and for the past nineteen in Oakland, died Saturday at his home in that place following an illness of several days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Church of Christ in Oakland, the Rev. Stabough of Tishomingo conducting. Interment was made in the Madill-Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. (BORN IN TENNESSEE) The deceased was born in Tennessee, November 23, 1851, and at the age of 21 was married to Miss. Emma Hipp. Eleven children (Seventeen children were born) were born to this union, eight of whom are still living. The widow survives. Uncle John Lynn as he was known to his friends, moved from Tennessee to Pilot Grove, Texas in 1880. He lived there for fifteen years, moving from that place to the Indian Territory in 1895. For thirty-two years he had lived in this part of what is now Marshall County, the last nineteen of those years in Oakland. (JOINS CHURCH AT AGE 21) Mr. Lynn joined the Church of Christ when 21, and at the time of his death was a faithful member of that denomination in Oakland. He was a leader in the Song service and a constant reader of the Bible.(Survivors) The surviving children are; J.Y. Lynn of Oakland; J.A. Lynn of Amarillo, Texas; G.C. Lynn of Fox; C.A. Lynn of Durant; O.W. Lynn of Tishomingo; Mrs. S.B. Hughes of Tonkawa; Mrs. Fay Hawkins of Denison, Texas; and Mrs. F.J. Milholland of Dallas, Texas; one brother,D.B. Lynn of Oakland, and two sisters, Mrs. Haley of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Mrs. R.C. Simpson of Checotah. All the survivors with the exception of Mrs. Haley were present at the time of Mr. Lynn's death. Mr. Lynn is survived by his wife, eight children, all of whom were present when the end came. The funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, after which the body was laid to rest in the Madill-Oakland cemetery.
