Funeral services were Jan. 11, 2000 in Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill. Interment was in Woodberry Forest Cemetery. The land for this cemetery was donated to the city of Madill by the Taliaferro family and her grandfather was the first person buried there. Mrs. Reirdon was born August 23, 1908, in Madill, Oklahoma. The daughter of Dorsey Buckner Taliaferro and Bird Whiting Taliaferro. She married Jack Joseph Reirdon on March 22, 1935 in Madill, moving to Durant, Oklahoma in 1938. He preceded her in death on July 27.1957, and she has resided in the home they built for over 60 years. Her family moved to Sherman, Texas, when she was in the 5th grade and she graduated from Sherman High School in 1926. Her education continued as a student of Randolf Macon College, in Virginia, and Austin College in Sherman. She was a graduate of Southern Methodist University in 1931 and charter member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority in Dallas, Texas. She was a retired teacher having taught in Madill, Kingston, and in Durant High schools. Her love of children, knowledge and music expanded through her volunteer work with the organization of Camp Fire in Durant where she was presented with the Gulick Award. She was very active in establishing a Booster Club as her twin sons were active in sports during their high school years and she was also Woman of the Year in Durant. She maintained her home in Durant and business interest in Madill for many years before her final retirement to Sherman in 1998. Her parents Dorsey Buckner Talliferro and Bird Whiting Taliaferro, brothers George Whiting Taliaferro and Beauford Norborne Taliaferro and sister, Mary Byrd Taliaferro French, preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children: Daughters Ella Byrd Brown of Sherman, Texas, Mary LoRene Woodruff of Hotchkiss, Colorado. Twin sons Joseph Patrick Reirdon of Durant, Oklahoma and Dorsey Jack Reirdon of Beaumont, Texas. Son in-law Philip Woodruff of Hotchkiss, Daughters in-law, Judy Reirdon of Durant and Beth Reirdon of Beaumont. Grandchildren, Grace Woodruff Whitmer, Henry Jack Woodruff, Renee Reirdon Honsinger, Dorsey Jack Reirdon jr., Jeffry Tate Reirdon, J. Patrick Reirdon, Erin Reirdon Morrison , Karen Brown McMahan, Christopher Scott Brown. Great-grandchildren, Emily Whitmer, Stephen Palmer, Denver Palmer, Megan Honsinger, Jacob Reirdon, Courtny Reirdon, Tyler Reirdon, Mathew Reirdon, Patrick Reirdon, David Morrison, Casey McMahan, Krista McMahan. Great-Great-grandchild Rowdy Palmer and a long list of nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons and close friends of the family conducted the service. Skip Robinson officiated and Margaret and Joe Taylor arranged music.
