Madill Record 1957 Funeral rites will be held at the First Methodist church in Madill Tuesday at 10a.m. for Jack Joseph Reirdon, 49 year-old Durant Businessman, who died in Durant of a heart attack Saturday night. Services will be conducted by John Haskins and W.E. Bowers Durant, and Rev. Dee Hinkley of Madill, the burial under direction of Watts Funeral home, burial will be in Woodberry Forest here. Pallbearer will be Maurice Lampe, M.B. Bryant, Marvin Davis, Frank Landrum, Roy Lockhart, Reuel Little and Norman Brillhart, all of Madill, and Paul Hartin of Durant. Mr. Reirdon, who previously had suffered from a heart ailment, was stricken at his home, 1745 W. Evergreen in Durant Saturday night, and died at 9:30 p.m., after being rushed to a hospital. Mr. Reirdon was born south of Madill, October 9, 1907. He was graduated from Madill high school where he was an outstanding football and track star and attended the University of Arizona and the University of Oklahoma. He was married to Miss LoRene Taliaferro of Madill here March 27, 1935. They moved to Oklahoma City where they lived two years before moving to Durant in 1937 and they had made their home in Durant since. Mr. Reirdon was a member of the Methodist church and was ingaged in general business and ranching. Survivors include his wife, twin sons, Dorsey Jack and Joe Reirdon, of the home address; two daughters, Mrs. Mary LoRene Woodruff, Durant and Miss Ella Byrd Reirdon, of the home address; one grandchild and four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Keller, Madill; Mrs. Ethel Ramsey, Phoenix Ariz.; Mrs. Louise Skinner, Sun Valley, Calif.; and Mrs. Mary Patton, Tucson, Ariz. The Reirdon family has requested that instead of sending flowers, friends make donations to the heart fund in the name of Mr. Reirdon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jack Reirdon is Buried Tuesday Madill Record 1957 Jack Joseph Reirdon, who had lived most of his life in Madill but who had made his home in Durant in recent year, died unexpectedly of heart attack Saturday, July 27. He was 49 years old. Mr. Reirdon had been in ill health for some time but his condition was not regarded as critical. He was taken to a hospital in Durant only a few hours before death occurred. He was born in 1907 at the old home place of the Reirdon family, four miles south of Madill. His parents were the late Joe P. Reirdon and Claudie Ella (Lewis) Reirdon of Madill. As a child he attended the Madill public schools, and was graduated from Madill high school. Following his graduation from high school he attended the University of Arizona and also the University of Oklahoma. He was married to the former Miss LoRene Taliaferro in 1935. After living in Oklahoma City for two years, while he was the Assistance State Fire Marshall, they moved to Durant in 1937 and have made their home there since that time. Mr. Reirdon had business interests in Madill, however, and came here nearly every day. He had many friends in all walks of life. The First Methodist Church here was filled to overflowing when funeral services were conducted at 10:00 Tuesday morning. The Rev. Will Bowers, pastor of the Methodist church in Durant, and the Rev. Dee Hinckley, pastor of the Methodist church here conducted the services. John Haskins of Durant, a neighbor and close friend of Mr. Reardon's delivered a eulogy, and another neighbor, Miss Margaret Byers, sang a solo. Burial was at the Woodberry Forest Cemetery, under the direction of Watts Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Maurice Lampe, M.B. Bryant, Paul Hartin, Marvin Davis, Frank Landram, Roy Lockhart, Reuel Little, and Norman W. Brillhart. Mr. and Mrs. Reirdon and their daughter, Ella Byrd, had planned a trip the West Coast to visit relatives, and expected to leave on the trip Monday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. LoRene Reirdon, Durant. His four children, Mrs. Mary LoRene Woodruff, Miss Ella Byrd, and twin sons Joe and Dorsey, all of Durant; one six-month old grandchild, Grace Woodruff; and four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Keller, Madill, Mrs. Ethel Ramsey, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Louise Skinner, Sun Valley, Calif.; and Mrs. Mary Patton, Tucson, Ariz. His is a nephew of F.L. Lewis of Madill.
