He lived in Napa at 2400 Fair Drive. Born Aug. 5, 1896 in Oklahoma, he was educated there, then served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Mr. Smith came to California in 1946 and settled in the Napa Valley. He was a construction laborer, last working for the Lenz & Son Company. Mr. Smith was a member of the American Legion. Surviving is his wife, Pauline Smith of Napa, with daughters Ruth W. Dudley of Yountville; Myrtle Moburg and Geneva McCaffery, both of St. Helena; Edna Sims of Alaska; and Dorothy Ellis of Napa, a brother, Fred M. Smith of Tenessee, and sister, Minnie Mayberry of Texas. He leaves nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great -great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Napa Vally Memorial Gardens Mortuary. The Rev. Gene Longwill of the First Assembly of God Church will officaiate. Interment will be in Napa Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. [note: born in Marshall County, August 5, 1896].
