Sherman, Tx. in hosp. of heart trouble. 16 yrs. cashier of Guaranty State Bank of Madill (organized as City Nat'l Bank); 22 yrs. resident and prominent bus. man of city. Born Farmington, Grayson Co., Tx (3 mi. west of Howe); only a few days old when moved to Madill. Master Mason; also Marshall Co. Shrine Club. Attended rural schools, Harshaws Acad. at Denison, Baylor U. at Waco & Texas A&M, College Station. He taught a few years. Married Miss Hazel GARDNER of Sherman, Tx. Survivors: wife, wife's sister Mrs. HUDSON of Sherman, TX., mother Mrs. E.G. Hollingsworth, 7 of 11 brothers: Jim of Achille, OK, Will & Homer of Denison, Tx., Charles of Long Beach, CA, Ernest of Chickasha, OK, Ross & Sam, Madill. Tom 1st to die who reached manhood. Services Rev. J.T. Monton, Presbyterian Church; burial West Hill Cem. Article lists pallbearers, honorary pallbearers & many Madill citizens attending. Brothers Ross and Sam Hollingsworth. Ross & Tom came at founding of town; hauled lumber from Denison, Tx. to build their business or north side of square, presently Madill Groc. Co. Firm was Hollingsworth Bros. and sold groceries. Both were instrumental in organizaing City Nat'l bank. After selling grocery, started Hollingsworth Hardware Co.; Ross managed it. Both identified with progress of city.
