    History of Salina, Mayes County, Oklahoma

Salina is the first white settlement in Oklahoma established by Jeanne Pierre
Chouteau in 1796?  The oldest building in Oklahoma is the The Spring House and
is listed on the National Historical Register.

The orphange for Cherokee girls was located there. Also Washington Irving
visited there.
