All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens--Oklahoma City OK Bowlin, Winifred Jenette Winifred Jenette (McNamara) passed away on April 10, 2003 at St Ann's Home. She was born December 26, 1910 in Tipton, OK to Odus Harry and Annie (Sturgess) McNamara. Later the family moved to a farm near Pryor, OK, where Winifred started to school. During her grade school years, she was a member of the Girl Scouts and went on her first scout camping trip to Lake Spavinaw. Her High School years were at Tipton and Bethany. In 1927 she met Lynn Bowlin and on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929, they were married in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Holding, owners of the Tipton Tribune, where Lynn was employed. They moved to Bethany in 1931 and Winifred enrolled in the Lane Beauty School in Oklahoma City and operated a beauty shop in Bethany until 1945. Later she owned and operated Winifred's Draperies. When their daughter, Carol, was in grade school, Winifred again resumed her Girl Scout work. This time as a leader, organizing the first Girl Scout Troop in Bethany, helped establish Cookieland (east of OKC) and Camp Red Rock near Binger, OK. After retiring in 1973, she and Lynn enjoyed traveling, making trips to Europe, Canada and Mexico, as well as Hawaii and 44 of the 48 contiguous states. She was a life time member of Putnam City United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; her parents, 1 sister and 2 brothors. Winifred is survived by her daughter, Carol Robinson of Lawton, OK; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 nephew; 1 niece and many friends. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice, Victoria Lodge, RN and St. Ann's Home for the loving care given to Winifred. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with O. Duane Snavely, Chaplin Hospice officiating. GUARDIAN WEST 41 & N.
