He died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Carey; his parents and six brothers. He was born October 13, 1922, in Mazie, Oklahoma, to Richard and Nancy (Fisher) Carey. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a POW, captured at the Battle of the Bulge. He received many medals, including the Prisoner of War, Good Conduct, Qualification Combat Infantryman 1st Award, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign, Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star and the Oklahoma Medal of Valor. He is survived by four daughters, Clara Marie McCown of Windsor, Linda Easter and Wynona Burwell, both of Clinton and Janie Jump of Wagoner, Oklahoma; step- daughter, Carol Burwell, Wagoner; brother, Willard Carey of Louisiana; sister, Nellie Thomas of Wagoner; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, six step- grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, with arrangements by Mallett Funeral Home, Wagoner, Oklahoma. ---
