"Jim" James R. Devin "Jim" Jan. 15, 1934 - June 1, 2006 Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary Funeral Directors James (Jim) R. Devin was born on January 15, 1934 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. He moved to Bakersfield in 1942. Jim attended Arvin High School and played all sports. He was a very outgoing person. At the age of 17, he started driving a truck, he hauled cattle and sheep, but was a hay hauler and the best one there ever was. His best job though was raising his 6 children. He was the best husband, father, and grandpa. He was loved by us all and he loved all of us unconditionally. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wayne and Grace Devin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Devin; son, Rick Devin; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Sandy Devin, Danny and Karen Devin, Kenny and Kathy Devin; daughter, Pamela Devin; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tim Carlon. Jim is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Virginia Devin; sisters, Patricia Devin and Tonya McClure. Special thank you to Dr. Risbud and Optimal Hospice Care. Funeral service will be on Monday, June 5th at 10:00 A.M. for James (Jim) Devin at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
