LEE DIES THURSDAY Fred S. lee, 69, pioneer Mayes County political and civic leader, died in a Tulsa hospital Thurs. Operator of the Lee General Store in Adair at the tiem of his death, he had been a state legislator and mayor of Adair. Funeral services are scheduled for 230 pm Sun. in the First Baptist Church, Adair. Burial will be in the Adair Cem. under the direction of the Harris Funeral Home. Lee's wife Cathryn was listed as the only survivor. Lee was born 26 Jan 1900 in Baron [sic] county, Ky. He came to Adair in Jun 1915 with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. J.H. Lee. At the time of his death, Lee was a member of the Board of Directors of the American National Bank, Pryor. He served in the Oklahoma Legislature in 1926 and served as Mayor Adair. He was serving as a member of the Adair City Council. In addition, Lee held memberships in Masonic Lodge No. 99 in Adair Tulsa Consistory, Bedomn Temple, Muskogee, Eastern Star and the Baptist Chruch. Fred Lee, son of James Henry "Buck" Lee and Annie O. Sewell, married Catherine Elizabeth Hendrix on 31 Jul 1930, Pryor, Mayes Co., Oklahoma. They had no children. I posted his and his wife obit on the Mayes Co.
