All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--Tulsa OK McCartney, Gayle Estelle Gayle Estelle McCartney, born June 7, 1939, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, leader and friend died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. Growing up in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, she began working at the Bank of Locust Grove while still in Locust Grove High School. She worked at the Exchange Bank of Skiatook, National Bank of Tulsa, Guaranty Bank & Trust (Oklahoma City), and WEMemorial ParkOKIE Credit Union in Oklahoma City. After brief stints in the insurance and nursing home industry, Gayle found her career in association management. She worked her way up to Executive Director of the Automotive Wholesalers of Oklahoma. Gayle McCartney was active in professional, civic, and service organizations in Oklahoma City for over 30 years. A graduate of the Institute for Organization Management at Stanford University, McCartney earned the Certified Association Executive distinction. In 1997-98 she served as National President of the Alliance of State Automotive Aftermarket Associations, becoming the only woman to serve in that capacity. A member of the Oklahoma Society of Association Executives, she was equally dedicated to service to her community and church. A former member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, she now belongs to St. Stephens Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. She has also been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and the Jim Thorpe Association. For many years she was an active member of the Junior Hospitality Club of Oklahoma City, where she served on the Board of Directors and editor of their cookbook 'Fabulous Foods II'. McCartney also worked on the Lyric Theatre Associates Board, was a member of the Toastmasters, the Automotive Booster Wives Club, and the PTAs in the Putnam City schools her daughter attended. She is survived by Robert J. 'Bob' McCartney of Oklahoma City, to whom she was married for almost forty years, and daughter, Jill Estelle McCartney of Oklahoma City. Her mother, Mildred Key Roach, and sisters Cara Lea Cox and Peggy Daily of Locust Grove, and brother Kim Roach of Tulsa also survive her. Also survived by Mayes & Wanda Key of Locust Grove, Martha Key of Sperry, Jim McCartney and Tom & Karen McCartney of Tulsa, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services by Key Funeral Homes: Funeral 1 pm - Friday Southminster Presbyterian Church, Tulsa; Burial Friday - Memorial Park, Tulsa; Memorial Service 2 pm Saturday - St. Stephens Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
