(Oklahoma) Jason Edward's parents were: Jason Daugherty and Mariah Antoinette (Cravens) Daugherty Jason Edwards was a Mason, Presbyterian, and a Democrat. He and his father were charter members of the Masonic Lodge in Blanchard, McClain Co., OK. Besides being a farmer, Ed taught school in or near Wynnewood for a year before his marriage. In 1912, he started work as a field deputy under Sheriff Grant Vincent. He did not move to Purcell until he was offered continuous work as "Undersheriff" for Johnny Ratliff in 1919. May 9, 1925, he and Sheriff Ratliff were seriously wounded while trying to subdue a man on Main Street in Purcell. Sheriff Ratliff died the next morning, but Ed Daugherty didn't die until July. At his death, he left nine children and a pregnant wife. (3 sons and 7 daughters)
