Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ======================================================================== Date unknown Purcell Register MAT OZMENT REELECTED MAYOR AS LEO COBB PILES UP LARGE VOTE IN RACE FOR FINANCIAL SECRETARY, GRAY UNOPPOSED FOR LEGISLATIVE COMMISSIONER Purcell's biennial city election came to a conclusion here late Tuesday afternoon and tabulations revealed that the group of hardworking candidates had brought out a total of almost 1300 votes, breaking all previous records for the city of Purcell. And with this landslide of ballots, the final results showed that Mat Ozment, mayor, was reelected to that office by a majority of 141 votes over his nearest opponent, W. C. Cox and that Leo Cobb was the winner in the race for financial secretary, with a commanding lead over a field of four candidates. Anthony Gray was unopposed for Legislative Commissioner, Dana O. Smith was unopposed for treasurer of the Purcell school district and both were automatically nominated and elected. Here is the final vote: Mayor's race: Mat Ozment 545, W. C. Cox 404, O. B. Fox 263, James S. Bell 60, Financial Secretary: Leo Cobb 571, J. D. Warner 258, Ewell Ellison 240, Francis Hesse 200. The two winners, Ozment and Cobb, had a good majority at both voting boxes, representing the areas north and south of Main Street.
