Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ======================================================================== RECREATION CENTER HAS BIG OPENING The formal opening last Thursday evening of the McClain County Recreation Center, one mile south of Purcell on Highway 77, attracted a capacity crowd of approximately 750 persons. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Battles, were greatly pleased with the response to the openings. The Recreation Center boasts a modern golf putting course, a garden for the serving of slices of ice cold watermelon, and an AAA root beer refreshment station. Dr. Wm. H. Wallace, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist church in Oklahoma City, and Rev. Ray Menard were the principal speakers at the dedication ceremony. Others who made short talks were: Mayor Leo Cobb, H. L. Holmes, Dave Williams Judge H. R. Jacobs, Joe C. Love, John M Yoakum, A Sparlin, J. C. Nance and George Trudgeon.
