Baxter Orvil C. Baxter, 72, of Centrahoma and formerly of Norman died Saturday, Sept. 27, in Coalgate. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman with Dr. Sunny Stuart and Brother Dallas Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Norman IOOF Cemetery. Havenbrook Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Baxter was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Rosedale, to Grady Marvin and Stella Mae Baxter. He graduated from Verden High School. He served in the Marine Corps before the Korean Conflict. He moved from Lexington to Norman in 1953 and began working for Coca Cola Co. He married Mary Belle Goodin Baxter in 1957 and she died in January 1992. He was married to Inez Baxter for a short time. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Berry Road Baptist Church in Norman for many years. He was a member of Tupelo First Baptist Church when he died. He was a cattleman and enjoyed playing cards and dominos. Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Stella Mae Baxter; wife, Mary Belle Baxter; and brothers, Carl, Raymond, Jimmy, Melvin and Norvil Baxter. Mr. Baxter is survived by his daughters, Denise Lynn Crow and husband, Dale, of Centrahoma and Kelly Diane Raper and husband, Mark, of Littleton, Colo.; sister; Dorothy Lucell Standridge of Norman; and seven grandchildren.
