Marquis died at Purcell, Okla., August 24, 1938, at the age of 66 years. He was a charter member of St. Joseph Court 1462 organized May 24, 1904. He had always been an enthusiastic and active member of the court for 34 years. He was always in the front ranks in all activities of the court. Through his efforts, our court has prospered. He was financial secretary for 25 years, Chief Ranger since October, 1932, Vice Chief Ranger of Oklahoma and Texas State Court and a member of the Legion of Honor. Resolution Whereas, it pleased Almighty God to remove from his earthly labors our beloved Brother Joseph H. Marquis, Whereas, we, the members of St. Joseph Court, Catholic Order of Foresters, sincerely mourn the departure of our brother and feel by his death our order has lost a sincere and honest worker, his wife a king and devoted husband and society an honest and loyal citizen; therefore, Be it resolved, that we offer to his bereaved wife and children our sincere and heartfelt sympathy in their hour of deep affliction and commend her and her family to trust in the wisdom of our Heavenly Father, who does all things for the best. Resolved, that as a mark of esteem and love for our brother, that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of St. Joseph Court 1462, and also a copy be sent to the family.
