All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Bakersfield Californian 17 August 2004 RICHARD GRAYDON BELL "DICK" Services: Wed., Aug. 18, 10 a.m. Services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Wednesday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. for Richard Graydon "Dick" Bell, 88, who passed away August 14, 2004, at his home with his family present. Reverend D. L. Burton will officiate and burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dick was born in Dibble, Oklahoma on December 1, 1915, the second of five children born to Albert William Bell and Vivian Barefoot. Dick was preceded in death by his older brother, Freeman Francis Bell; his youngest sister, Jean Elizabeth Mireau and two granddaughters, Melody Deaver and Tammy Jorquera. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Paul Albert Bell; daughter, Vivian Lynn Goth; adopted daughter, Robyn Gallagher; brother, Paul Albert Bell and sister, Carmen Pearl Hartman. In addition, he is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of friends. Dick joined the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served with distinction in the submarine service in the Pacific during WW II. He married Martha Louisa Casselman in 1943 and returned to Oklahoma upon his retirement from the Navy in 1954. Dick graduated from the University of Oklahoma and taught Mathematics in high school and junior high school until 1972 when he retired for the second time. Dick married Marilyn Gallagher in 1983, after the death of his first wife. Dick and Marilyn moved to Bakersfield in 1998, where they become very active in the World of Pentecost Church. The family wishes to take this opportunity to thank Odyssey Hospice for their excellent care and support during this difficult time.
