Bonneau Was Actively In Business in Purcell for Almost Half a Century. The Purcell Register - April 9, 1926 Purcell and McClain county lost another of its pioneer and prominent 89'ers in the death at 5:30 o'clock Saturday morning of Louis Bonneau, who had actively participated in the civic and commercial life of this city since 1889. Mr. Bonneau became critically ill at his home here last Friday night and passed away after about six hours. Although he had suffered a declining health for the past two years, he had not suffered any serious illness until stricken with a heart attack Friday night. His death came unexpectedly and was a great shock to his many friends and to memebers of his family and relatives. Rites Held Monday Funeral services were conducted from Our Lady of Victory church Monday morning at 9 o'clock with Father Nic Schmitt conducting the service. Interment was made in Hillside cemetery with Yoakum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The services were attended by many old time friends of the deceased. Mr. Bonneau was born in Canada and with his brother, M. Bonneau, came to Purcell in 1889 where they established themselves in the furniture business and the undertaking profession. They followed this occupation for many years, after which the deceased went into the retail oil business and up to the time of his death, was actively engaged in managing the Bonneau Oil Company. During his 47 years residence in Purcell, Mr. Bonneau became widely acquainted and enjoyed the friendship, esteem and respect of many. He was active and energetic in the pioneer days of this city and had an active part in the history of this city almost from its beginning. Was 73 Years of Age Mr. Bonneau was born December 17, 1862, and passed away at the age of 73 years, three months and 18 days. In addition ot Mrs. Bonneau, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frank McCallen of Bellwood, Ill; his brother, M. Bonneau, who now resides with his son, Albert, at Ardmore; another nephew, J.P. Bonneau of Ponca City, and a sister who resides in Canada. He is also survived by three nieces. Active pallbearers at the service were J.O. Kress, George Gage, Louis Groothouse, M.B. Larran, John Boudreau and Franics Hesse. Honorary pallbearers were W.H. Rainbolt, John H. Wells, Sam J. Bridwell, Ed Price and Jimmie Davis.
