Burns Services for John D. Burns, 85, Sulphur will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Mike Russell and Rev. Don Payne officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born May 30, 1920 in Bixby to Elijah Burns and Minnie Stuart Burns, he died Sunday, Jan. 29 in Oklahoma City. He married Katie Miller on November 9, 1947 in Quartside, Ariz. He grew up in central Oklahoma, graduating from Blanchard High School. He moved to California in 1947 and worked as a machinist for Martin-Marietta. He and his wife moved to Sulphur in 1982. A veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army, he was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife, Katie Burns, Sulphur; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Diane Burns, Sulphur; a sister, Maude Gray, Bulls Head, Ariz., and two grandchildren, Jennifer White and Jacob Burns. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and four sisters. Pallbearers will be Paul Gray, Milton White, David Pittman, Jim Burk, Tom Payne and Jim Davis. A Ft.
