Baker, longtime Phoenix resident, passed away Tuesday Feb. 20th @ The Terraces in Phoenix. Jack was born Oct. 6, 1920 to Leonard and Yolanda (Dillingham) Baker in Purcell, OK. After High school, he joined the US Army spending 28 months overseas during World War II in Italy and Africa in the 804th Tank Destroyer Division. He received the Purple Heart, 2 campaign ribbons bearing 2 stars & the Good Conduct medal. He spent his career after the Army working for the Civil Service as a procurement officer with the US Army in Oakland, CA. He retired in 1975 and established his home in Phoenix. Jack is survived by his Sister-in-law, Elsie Baker, his nephew, Don Baker, both of Dodge City, KS., 4 great nieces and nephews, 12 great-great nieces and nephews and longtime friends, David Rogers and Walter Andrews of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Rubie Baker and brother, Harold E. Baker. No public services will be held cremation has taken place. Please send any memorials to Hospice of the Valley or to Madison Meadows Retirement Center in Phoenix.
