They lived on a successful farm that was not affected by the Dust Bowl. At the age of 5, despite the success of the farm, her father sold their home and furnishings and moved the family to Arvin, California. It is here, that Bea grew to enjoy crawling under a shade tree with an apple and a book. At the age of 15, she met and married her husband of 63 years, Vernon Castle. Once their four children were raised and married, Bea then furthered her education, and after obtaining her college degree, became a Kern County Librarian. In Bea and Verns retirement years, they enjoyed summers with their grandchildren at Morro Bay. Trout fishing in Bishop, CA, with friends, and many summers Salmon fishing while at Dels Camp, in Klamath, CA. She continued her love of reading, however, crocheting took the place of the apple and shade tree. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel McCreight; sisters, Athalee McCreight, and Dorsey Hoosier; brother, Okley McCreight; sons, Wayne Castle, David Castle, and infant George Calvin Castle.
