E. Cunningham on June 27 (1945) brought to a close the life of a true pioneer. She was born Sept. 1, 1856 in Erath County, Texas, and was married to Martin Patrick Cunningham, August 14, 1879. She lived in and near Purcell for 46 years, being a member of Our Lady of Victory parish and the altar society during that time.Requiem Mass for Mrs. Cunningham was offered June 29, in Our Lady of Victory church with Rev. L. Hugo celebrant. Rev. George Kroupa directed the boy's choir from Oklahoma City.Her husband and four children preceded her in death. They were Sister Mary Olivia, formerly of St. Partick's Mission, Anadarko; Ellen, Bernard and William Cunningham.She is survived by three sons, John, James and Joseph Cunningham, two daughters, Mrs. John Guest, Albuquerque, and Mrs. George Gage, Purcell. One sister Mrs. C. A. Cushman, Stratford, also was present. Eighteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.She was a convert, embracing the Catholic faith at the age of 33 years, being baptized with her three children, living true to her convictions, and so long as her health permitted walked daily to Mass.
