She was born on March 28, 1945 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. She was the younger of two children born to Jack Lucas and Ethel Simpson Lucas. Mary grew up a farm girl near Crawford, Oklahoma where she also graduated from High School in 1963. On January 4, 1964 she married her high school sweetheart, George Carpenter. They first lived in Oklahoma City for three years before going back to the farm in 1965. Then in 1966, George was drafted into the U.S. Army and they lived where George was stationed. After his honorable discharge in 1968, they lived another year in Oklahoma City, then three years in Enid before returning to Oklahoma City in 1972. Mary worked as a secretary for various businesses, mainly in the construction indusdtry while George worked for OG&E. In 1990 they moved to a farm south of Purcell where they live today. Mary loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Her favorite show on TV, was the cooking channel. In her younger years she enjoyed playing the piano at church and other community events. While living in Purcell she was an active member of the First Baptist Church family. She is preceded in deazth by her parents Jack and Ethel and brother Charles Ray Lucas. She is survived by her Husband George Carpenter of the home in Purcell; Her only child, Penny Parkinson and husband Bobby of Purcell; Two grandchildren; Colton and Callee Parkinson; Mother-in-law: Berneta Lucas of Purcell; Sister-in-law: Dona Lucas of Crawford, Oklahoma; Nieces and nephews: Charlote Lucas of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Jack Lucas of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment followed at Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Oklahoma.
