All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Queen of Heaven Cemetery--Mesa AZ Cates Sr., Ray Monteville Ray Monteville Cates Sr, 89, of Surprise, AZ passed away on April 2, 2007. He was born May 14, 1917 in Blanchard, OK to Forrest M. Cates and Virginia Hall Cates. Ray graduated the 8th grade April 20, 1934 from McClain County Accredited Schools in Purcell, OK. Ray was employed as a civilian employee by the Department of The Air Force and retired June 30, 1978 after 38 years. Ray was also employed as a civilian employee by the United States Navy during World War II at the US Navel Drydocks Terminal Island, CA. He was recognized for his services September 2, 1945. Ray was survived by 2 sisters; Naomi Lee in OK and Mae Bell in TX, 7 children; 3 sons; Forrest Cates in WA, Don and Marty Cates in IL, Monte and Suzy Cates in AZ. 4 daughters Jackie and Bill Hart in WA, Wynona and Don Casey in UT, Jeanie and Chris Kent in AZ, Shirley and Ronnie Estrada in AZ. Ray also had 24 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. Niche side services will be held at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1500 E Baseline Rd in Mesa, AZ 85204 on May 14, 2007 at 9:00am. Presided by Baptist Minister Harold Moore.
