Surnames: Daugherty, Barefoot 

Jason Edward Daugherty, undersheriff of McClain County, dropped dead at 
Purcell last Saturday evening when he was seized with an attack of 
heart trouble. Mr. Daugherty had been undersheriff of this county 
for a number of years and was well known throughout this part of the 
state. He leaves to mourn his sudden death a wife, two sons and 
seven daughters, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. 
Daugherty was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Barefoot, residing 
near this city.

The funeral service was held Sunday and the remains were laid to 
rest in the Blanchard Cemetery.

In the death of Mr. Daugherty it marks the passing of the third 
member of the Sheriffs office. Only a short time ago Choc Green, a 
deputy succomed to pneumonia, and a few months later J. E. Ratliff, 
Sheriff, was seriously wounded by a maniac, and died from the 
effects of same.
