All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Franklin, Ben Ben, of Oklahoma City, was born in Purcell, Okla. on Dec. 21, 1912 to Ben Franklin, Sr. and Ida Elizabeth Satterfield Franklin. He died on Dec. 31, 2002. He attended the University of Okla., where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in June 1935 and received his law degree in June 1937. In September, 1937, he was licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of Okla. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar, of which he was a member for over 60 years. He was a member of the Okla. Trial Lawyers Assoc. and the American College of Trial Lawyers (Order of the Coif). Mr. Franklin served on the City Council of Okla. City for a term of 4 years from 1967-1971. He also served on the Advisory Board for the Junior League of Okla. City, Okla.; was a member of the Century Club and the Historical Preservation Commission among many others. Mr. Franklin is pre-deceased by his mother and father; his sister Donna; Nell Franklin, the mother of his two sons; his son Ben Franklin III; and his wife of 34 years Louamma Edwards Franklin. He is survived by his wife Betty E. Franklin, of the home; son Robert M. Franklin, stepdaughter Suzanne Maidt Paine and her husband Jerry, all of Okla. City; stepson Albert D. Maidt and his wife Patti, of Rogers, Ark.; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Memorial Services for Mr. Franklin will he held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral noting Ben Franklin Memorial Fund, 127 N.W. 7th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73102 or the charity of your choice.
