Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church and conducted by Rev. Ratliff Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Gray was an old time resident of this community and leaves many friends to mourn his loss. Lon Gray was a full blooded Chickasaw Indian, he and his sister Loucinda were orphaned when young, and the Montford Johnson family took them, as well as several other orphans and cared for them. Granny Vicie was instramental in caring for the two children. Lon married Amanda Rosetta Start, and they had 3 children, William Robert Gray who married Stella MCCarthy, and had children Orville and Edna. Other children of Lon and Amanda were Vidie, who married Willis Sparkman, and Elsie who married John Jessee Moore, they had 4 children, Everett Shy, Turner, and Arizona Moore.
