Pastor Don Hildebrand of Rogue Valley Manor will officiate. Mr. Grimes, 91, of Medford, died April 15, 2002, at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Manor Endowment Foundation, 1200 Mira Mar Ave., Medford, OR 97504, or the Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 1801 E. Jackson St., Medford, OR 97504. He was born July 7, 1910, in Hobart, Okla., to Harry and Lucy Grimes. He received a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. On July 27, 1939, in Los Angeles, he married Arlyne, who preceded him in death. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1989 from Grass Valley, Calif. On April 15, 1995, in Grass Valley, he married Thies Murphy, who survives. Mr. Grimes was the regional benefits manager with Equitable Life Assurance Society. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves in Germany, where he received the Purple Heart. He retired from the Army Reserve as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Grimes was a founding member of the Sierra Nevada Hospital Foundation and an active member of the board for many years. He was also active in the Congregational Church in Medford. He enjoyed fishing, golf, playing bridge and traveling. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Lee Grimes, South Hamilton, Mass.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
