Mr. Hurst was a native of Purcell, Okla. He lived in Ceres 22 years. He was a mechanic for Darpinian Farms. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1968. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hurst of Ceres; children, Richard Hurst and Terri Hurst, both of Stockton, Rita Doherty of Antioch, Rhonda Richards of Oklahoma and Johnny Hurst Jr. of Ceres; sister, Caroline Hail of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
