Stinnett Johnson April 11, 1908 August 30, 2002 Funeral services will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home on Wed., Sept. 4, at 2 p. m. at Westside Family Fellowship for Bessie Louise Johnson, age 94, of Wasco who passed away August 30, in Bakersfield. Pastor John Ross will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Serving as casket bearers will be her great grandsons, Michael Waters, Jason Fabrie, Joseph Fabrie, Christopher Stinnett, Cameron Jones, Andrew Stinnett and Brandon Stinnett. Bessie was born April 11, 1908 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Walter and Vinnie Laughlin. She married Harvey Stinnett in 1926 in Oklahoma and they moved to Wasco in 1934. They moved to Ventura in 1952 where they were living when Harvey passed away in 1969. She later married Elwood Johnson who also preceded her in dearth. She will always be remembered as a strong and hard working mother and grandmother, working in the potato sheds and picking cotton. Later she worked as a housekeeper for Town House Suites and Travel Lodge. She was never idle as long as her health allowed. She was an excellent storyteller, recounting the events of her life. Her grandchildren loved to listen to her stories and advise. She could always quote the scripture that was needed at the right time. She lived her whole life for God, being a Christian came first in her life. She was loved and will be missed by her daughter, Billie Menser & husband Melvin of Bakersfield; brothers DeWayne Laughlin & wife Dorothy of Tulare, Joseph Laughlin of Richmond and Walter Laughlin of Bakersfield; sister Thelma Bratcher of Ventura; 7 grandchildren, Linda Waters & husband Mike, Alan Menser & wife Cindy, Steve Stinnett & wife Angie, Corby Stinnett, Kelly Fabrie & husband Terry, Kim Farley & husband Mike and Perry Stinnett & wife Dione; 16 great grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and special friend, Uncle Muffin. Her greatest sorrows in life were the losses of her 2 sons, Willard and Walter. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bill, Leon and Ray; and her parents.
