All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Oran Gordon Kniffin was born May 27, 1916 to Isaac Calvin and Rhoda Elisabeth (Weaver) Kniffin in Rosedale, Oklahoma. He passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the Binger Nursing Home in Binger OK at the age of 87. Oran was born and raised in Rosedale, attended Rosedale High School, and served a short period of time in the US Army during WWII. Oran and Iris Shelton were united in marriage November 19,1940 in Verden OK and they made their name in Binger, OK. He was a faithful member of the Binger Baptist Church where he was Choir Leader, Sunday School Superintendent, and taught Sunday School Class. He worked for Rosser Oil Company from 1940 to 1943 and then was employed at the Caddo Electric Cooperative from 1943 until retirement in 1978. Oran enjoyed league bowling and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Rhoda Kniffin, his wife of 60 years, Iris Shelton Kniffin, two brother, Douglas "Buddy" and Carl Kniffin, and three sisters, Myril (Kniffin) Hall, Lela (Kniffin) Thomasson, and Earl (Kniffin) Vilelle. Survivors include: One daughter Lafon Rider and her husband Gale of Anadarko, OK. One son, Paul Kniffin and wife Sharon of Binger, OK. Three grandchildren, Don Rider and wife Regina of Anadarko, OK, Suzanne Kniffin of Oakland CA and Paril Umbarger and her husband Dave of Hinton, OK. Four great-grandchildren, Ernest Kniffin and his wife Vivian of Pasadena, CA and Claud Kniffin of Oklahoma City, OK. One sister-in-law, Loretta Shelton of Martinez, Ca, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
