All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Norman Transcript 11/02/2003 James Fred Mitchell James Fred Mitchell, 67, of Purcell died Friday, Oct. 31, at Purcell Municipal Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. Mr. Mitchell was born Feb. 3, 1936, in Washington. He was the sixth of 10 children born to Dave L. Mitchell and Martha Ann Dover Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell grew up on farms in Washington and Lexington. After high school, he worked for the University of Oklahoma and became an Army paratrooper. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Modene Huddleston, and in the early 1960s they opened a bar in Purcell called Fred and Modene’s. After Modene died, he married Jenny Lynn Vaught Wynns on July 25, 1993, in Purcell. He owned Fred’s Bar, was a member of the American Legion and liked to gamble and travel in the southern United States. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Jenny Lynn of the home; a son Randy Mitchell and wife, Jill, of Dodge City, Kan.; a stepson, Kenny Wynns and wife, Kim, of Midwest City; a stepdaughter, Hallie Crawford of Moore; brothers, David Mitchell and wife, Naomi, of Lexington, and Monroe Mitchell and wife, Dorothy, of Lexington; sisters, Lillie Bruehl and husband, Carl, of Norman, Hazel Ille and husband, Bernard, of Lexington, Vera Mitchell of Lexington, Laverne Croslin of Van Buren, Ark., and Dovie Madden of Norman; grandchildren, Keta Gray, Shandi Mitchell, Lyn Mitchell and Lana Mitchell; step-grandchildren, Taylor Moore, Zachary Wynns, Lauren Crawford, Melanie Wynns and Jason Wynns. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to McClain County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/mcclain/mcclain.html
