The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Marquis Rites Friday - Long Time Resident of Purcell Dies of Heart Attack The Purcell Register - August 28, 1938 Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church at 9 o'clock Friday morning for Joe Marquis, long time resident of Purcell, who died of a heart attack at his home in Purcell at 5:30 Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rackley Funeral Home. Father Louis Hugo will officiate at the services. Mr. Marquis had been a resident of Purcell for the past 45 years, having come to Oklahoma in 1889. He was engaged in the grocery business for some time, part of the time in business for himself and later employed as a clerk in Rainbolt's grocery. Survivors are his wife and four children, Henry, Lucille, Leo and Ethel of the home address. A number of other relatives also survive him. Interment will be made in Hillside cemetery. Casket bearers at the funeral will be John Kress, M.B. Larran, Louis Groothouse, Ed Price, Louis, Tony, Albert and Joe Feuerborn.
