Agnes S., 89, passed away Monday, September 28, 2003. She was born January 17, 1914, at Purcell, OK, to Welcome and Electra (Freeland) Swafford. Agnes loved quilting, children, and applique t-shirts. Agnes retired from the Oklahoma City Public School in 1976, and was a long-time member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church. She grew up on a small farm in Purcell, and later moved to the city graduating from Central High School in 1933. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jesse, Earl, Mark and Alva Swafford; two sisters, Edith Hill and Ethel Tackett. Survivors include her children: daughter, Rose Nichols; and her son, Jack Nichols and wife, Ruth; brothers, William Swafford and wife, Marjorie, and Ernest Swafford and wife, Beatrice; sisters-inlaw; Ruth Swafford and Marie Hopper; grandchildren, Jonothon Updike and wife, Heather, Kenneth Updike, and Dawn Updike; great-grandchildren, Lauren Jayne Updike and Savannah Jane Updike; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Penn, with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Baggerley South 5708 S.
