Sneed Abner "Bob" D. Sneed, 85, of Yuba City died March 3, 2002, at Fremont Medical Center. Born in Blanchard, Okla., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident since 1960. He graduated from Arizona State Teachers College at Flagstaff with a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a first lieutenant in the South Pacific and Japan. He joined the U.S. Immigration Service after the war, reaching the rank of assistant regional commissioner. He was general manager of the Northern California Growers Association and a manager of the C.E. Sullivan and Saunders Brothers ranches in Yuba City and FICO Investment Properties in Tucson, Ariz. He owned, leased and farmed orchards in the Yuba-Sutter area and was a walnut buyer for Crain Walnut. He was co-owner of the Potting Barn in Yuba City and a member of Peach Tree Golf & Country Club, the Northern California Golf Association, American Legion, Sutter Post No. 705, the Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Officers and the Amici Italiani Club. Survivors include his wife, Joyese Sneed of Yuba City; three sons, Jerry Sneed of Yuba City, Robert Sneed of Chico and John Sneed of Fortuna; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Dorothy Sneed, two sisters and a brother. Contributions may be made to the U.S. Border Patrol Museum and Memorial Foundation Library, P.O. Box 4767, El Paso, TX 79914-4767. Services: Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. A service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Yuba City First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lois Black officiating.
